PDF Tools is a free set of PDF utilities that runs entirely in your web browser. You can merge PDF files, split a PDF, compress large PDFs, rotate or delete pages, convert images to PDF, turn PDF pages into images, extract text and more, without installing any software.

How It Works

Unlike many online PDF websites, this tool does not send your documents to a server. When you add a file, your browser reads it and processes it locally using JavaScript PDF libraries. The finished file is created on your device and downloaded directly. Your documents are not uploaded, so sensitive files such as invoices, forms and certificates stay with you.

The PDF libraries are loaded from a CDN when the page opens, so an internet connection is needed to load the tool. Your documents themselves are never sent to that CDN.

How to Use

1. Choose a tool from the list, for example Merge PDF, Split PDF or Compress PDF. You can also drag and drop your files onto the top box and pick a suggested tool.
2. Add your file or files. You can reorder or remove files before processing.
3. Adjust the settings shown for that tool, such as page ranges, rotation angle, page size or compression level.
4. Click the main action button and wait for the progress bar to finish.
5. Check the result preview, then click Download. Use Start Over to begin a new task.

Good to Know

• The editor adds text, shapes and images on top of a page. It cannot rewrite the existing text inside a PDF.
• Word to PDF gives a simplified layout. Complex formatting, custom fonts, headers and exact page breaks may change.
• Scanned PDFs contain pictures, not text, so PDF to Text cannot read them. OCR is not included.
• Password protection (adding a password to a PDF) is not available in this version.
• Compression reduces image size inside the PDF. A PDF that is mostly text may shrink very little, and the tool will tell you honestly if no saving is possible.

Is this PDF tool really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark added by the tool and no limit on how many times you use it.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Files are processed inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is stored in a database and your document content is not sent to us.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The layout adapts to phones and tablets. Very large PDFs may be slow on older phones because processing uses your device's memory.

Why is there a limit on file size?

Because everything runs in your browser, very large files can use a lot of memory. PDFs up to 250 MB and images up to 40 MB are accepted, but smaller files are faster.

How do I merge PDF files?

Open Merge PDF, add two or more PDFs, drag them into the order you want, and click Merge PDFs. Download the combined file when it is ready.

How do I split a PDF by page range?

Open Split PDF and enter ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8-10. Each range becomes its own PDF. If you create several files, you can download them all as one ZIP.

How can I reduce PDF file size?

Open Compress PDF, choose Low, Recommended or High, and run it. The tool shows the original size, the new size and the percentage change. Higher levels give smaller files but lower image quality.

Why did compression not make my PDF smaller?

If a PDF has few or no images, or is already well optimized, there is little to compress. In that case the tool says so instead of showing a fake result.

Can I edit the existing text in my PDF?

No. You can add new text, shapes, highlights and images over the page, but changing the original text of a PDF is not supported.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to text?

Not with this tool. Scanned PDFs are images and need OCR software to read the text.

Is a signature added here a legal digital signature?

No. It places a picture of your signature on the page. It is not a cryptographic digital signature.

Why is a password-protected PDF not opening?

Use the Unlock PDF tool and enter the password. It creates a new copy without a password. Only unlock files you are authorized to open.
